Our Approach to Records Sessions

Every Eldermark session begins from the same principle: personal records are easier to deal with when there is a structure to follow and a person to guide you through it. The session content does not change significantly from one participant to another, but the pace and focus are shaped by the individual.

The materials we use — the briefing sheets, folder structures, and scanning checklists — are designed for clarity rather than comprehensiveness. They do not try to cover every possible record type; they focus on the ones that matter most in later life and that tend to cause difficulty when they cannot be found.

The scope of every session remains strictly educational and administrative. We do not touch on entitlements, income management, or legal matters. When those questions arise — and they do — we acknowledge them and point the participant toward appropriate professional resources.

01

Introduction and Scope Setting

Each session opens with a brief explanation of what will be covered, what will not be covered, and how the printed materials work. Questions are welcomed from the start.

02

Record Category Review

The facilitator walks through the general categories of personal records covered in the session format, explaining the relevance of each and how they are typically stored.

03

Labelling and Storage Guidance

Practical pointers on labelling approaches and storage formats are covered alongside the record categories. The folder set is introduced here.

04

Takeaway Materials and Wrap-Up

Printed materials are handed over and briefly reviewed. Questions are addressed before the session closes. For programme participants, the next session is confirmed.
